I really wanted to like this cake. It calls for a generous list of delicious ingredients and it just sounded like it would come out rich, buttery, and simply heavenly.
Problem number 1 was the dough. With so many eggs and no leavening, it came out rubbery.
Problem number 2 was the hybrid that is meringue/ buttercream. I would have been better off if I made the two separately and then arranged them on the cake in some way. The meringue began to break down when I started mixing in the butter (every step done according to the recipe).
I wish I spent my energy and ingredients on a different recipe. Do not recommend this cake.
