This is my favorite dessert so there were big shoes to fill. Instead of instant espresso I used Starbucks Via decaf. Instead of Kaluha I used coffee extract. The cream needed either less vanilla pudding or more whipped cream; I prefer a more 'airy' cream. I wish I had used more lady fingers. Fabulous for a first attempt though.
Loved it! Actually took it to a potluck where guests were voting on the best dish and won! Like another reviewer pointed out, I'll try adding the mascarpone next time as I think it will help with the consistency and still taste divine! Definitely will make it again!
I swear, I have dinner parties, just so I can make this! Everyone loves it. If you are looking for a true, heavy, Italian style Tiramisu, this is not for you. This is a lovely, light and fluffy version, with all of the flavors and very few of the fats and calories. I have frozen individual portions successfully, in an airtight container, for several weeks. I do cut the liquids by about 1/3, as I don't like it sopping, just wet.
Delicious!!! The longer it sits, the better it tastes too. Absolutely my favorite tiramisu recipe!
Yummy!!! Super easy to make. Super hard to stop eating.
WOW! This is soooo good!! We ended up using the harder ladyfingers as that is all i was able to find and then kept them whole and just made two layers of them! We also doubled the liquid portion since essentially we doubled the cake portion and it was SOOOO good! We let it soak for 36 hrs and it was perfect! Can't believe it is light!! Wonderful!!
I used a 3.4 oz box of the pudding since the 1.4 oz box called for in the recipe never firmed up properly. I also cut the kahlua in half and replaced it with extra coffee per previous reviewers' suggestions. Incredible dessert! Undoubtedly the best tiramisu I have ever had.
make this all the time - have used marscapone instead of cream cheese w/STELLAR results - leftovers are incredible frozen --makes an excellent frozen dessert.
So incredibly wonderful! We've made it twice this week!
This recipe reminded me of oreo dirt cake, just made with ladyfingers and coffee. Although I like dirt cake filling, I don't think it is a comparable substitute for tiramisu filling. I'd try another recipe before doing this again....since the filling is tasty, just not tiramisu-like.
