Combine raisins, prunes, cloves, cinnamon, and water in a large Dutch oven; stir well. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes or until fruit is tender.
Stir in remaining ingredients, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain soup; discard fruit or save for use in another recipe. Soup may be served hot or cold.
