Strawberry-Kiwi Salad with Basil
Here we provide the exception to our picnic rule #1--the soupy sauce on this salad is irresistible, especially with angel-food cake "dunkers."

i love this! usually use less vinegar in recipes due to it overwhelming my tastebuds. have begun putting basil in fruit salads as well.
The vinegar and cream combination has the tang of sour cream without the heaviness. Lovely over the fruit, and the fresh basil is a must.
We all loved this. I just served as a salad alone and it was a hit!
This is sooo good. My daughter and I made this tonight, to take to our knitting group, with pieces of angel food cake. They all loved it. We hardly brought any home! We all thought it was delicious, with the angel food cake. I would definitely make again! Since we were going to share with a group, we cut up the fruits in smaller pieces, so they would go further. If I was just making it for our family of 4, I would probably leave the pieces bigger.
Based on some other reviews I paired this with angel food cake but I thought it was an odd combination. The fruit would be better alone or on top of greens. The flavor of the fruit and the balsamic was really good together and topping it off with basil is a fantastic combination. I just couldn't get past the awkward taste of the salad with the cake. Try it alone and you will love it.
