  • Stir together strawberries, sugar, and lime juice in a large bowl. Coarsely mash strawberries with a potato masher. Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes.

  • Process strawberry mixture in a food processor until mostly smooth and liquid, about 30 seconds. Pour into a 13- x 9-inch baking dish; whisk in water until combined.

  • Freeze strawberry mixture, stirring with a fork every 30 minutes, just until mixture begins to set, 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. Once mixture begins to set, use a fork to scrape and loosen mixture, evenly distributing frozen and liquid portions. Continue to freeze and scrape every 30 minutes until mixture is almost completely frozen but slushy enough to scoop, about 2 hours. Scoop into bowl, and serve immediately.
