TOO SWEET! Look, I live in South Carolina and I was born here so I know all about sweet tea. If you go to any restaurant or fast food place and order tea around here it will knock your block off. It's one tea bag and 5lbs of sugar! Oh I know they use a few tea bags but they really do use 3 cups of sugar per gallon. It's awful! Here is the recipe I grew up with and then adjusted to add green tea. 4 - Family size tea bags 3 - Green tea bags 1 - Gallon of water 1/2 - 2/3 cup of sugar. Plenty of tea taste, which I love, and enough sweetness to satisfy.

Classic Sweet Tea is all about simplicity, this is accomplished with this particular recipe... very easy and to the point. I blend up and use my own Handcrafted Loose Leaf black tea and only steep for 5 minutes and no longer.

Best. Sweet. Tea. Ever. Used Luzianne family sized tea bags and made it spot on according to the directions. I don't like my sweet tea sickeningly sweet so this was PERFECT.

I use Lipton brand regular size tea bags instead of family size. I use 5 bags for a gallon and 1- 1 1/3 cups sugar. I recommend if you have never made it to make it once and then u can adjust to your taste.

I can't find the family size tea bags and so used the personal ones. I must have used too many because it was on the stronger side. Just added a little more water.
