These really are "SO GOOD BROWNIES"!!!! I made these and another recipe that called for unsweetened chocolate and these were the winner all around the house! I made them exactly as the recipe calls, no substitutions at all and they are definitely a new favorite!
The consistency of these brownies are out of this world amazing; they're fudgy but still soft and chewy. But these are so sweet I couldn't even bare to eat them. I even used 3/8 more unsweetened chocolate squares (1 & 1/2 squares) more than the recipe called for because I like ultra rich brownies. They were still entirely TOO SWEET. I am remaking this recipe with 1c - 1 & 1/2 c sugar and I recommend you do the same. Other than the sweetness, this recipe is quite good.
Just had my first bite and they ate like eating a straight cup of sugar. Moving onto another recipe.
sorry- 113.4 grams
These brownies are easy to make and so delicious. Our neighbor had some and said they were the best brownies she'd ever tasted!
How many grams of unsweetened chocolate baking squares should I use? In my country we use only grams and kilograms:)
Excellent! Best brownies I have ever made!! I used small baking cups on top of a baking sheet....came out great
The absolute BEST brownie recipe ever, almost a combination of fudge + brownie. You'll never need another brownie recipe, and this one is easy, too.
I made these brownies tonight in a regular pan that I greased and I didn't have any problems taking them out. Only thing is that I didn't wait for the brownies to cool and they broke a bit when I did so. I also added chocolate chips to the batter and used semi-sweet chocolate baking squares. I also baked for closer to an hour (but every oven is different). Final product was moist and good with an intense chocolate flavour. We enjoyed them, I've now frozen a bag of individually wrapped brownies for our lunches!
I made these brownies for a church function yesterday, and while I thought they were rich and delicious I say a kid turn up his nose after biting into one and saying it was yucky. They are very rich dark brownies. He is probably used to boxed brownies. ;) My husband said they were a bit dark (rich) for him too.
The basic recipe is very good and easy to make. It's nice and fudge-y rather than cake-y.
The brownies really were delicious. I doubled the recipe and made them in a 13x9 pan. I believe they took around an hour to cook as they were quite thick. Also, being right after Halloween, I chopped up candy bars and pressed them into the top of the brownies about 10 minutes before they brownies were done baking. This could quite possibly be my go-to brownie recipe!
These brownies came out delicious but I agree with a previous reviwer that the edges came out hard and I'm not sure if that was due to the foil or not but I will try them without the foil next time. I made these as a treat for my co-workers and they were so great that several people didn't even have a chance to try them. I will be keeping this recipe!
Everyone loves these brownies. I've made them several times with and without added chocolate chunks and they are always a hit.
These were great, my husband and I could not stop eating them.
These were very good. So rich. I made a double batch and added milk chocolate chips to the batter. My husband said it's the best brownie I have ever made.
Great recipe, so simple why settle for a boxed mix? However like all brownies, no matter how chewy and fudge like, frosting is a requirement! I used the good old stand by fudge frosting from the Hershey's web site. Also cutting them into 12 servings as opposed to 16 made for a nicer sized brownie and yes they went great with vanilla ice cream.
Made with cran raisins and added chocolate chips - They were a hit.
These are amazing. I found the recipe because I had a craving for brownies and ran out of white sugar. They were so fudgy and moist. Everyone who tried them raved! Might have to make them again today!
This is with out a doubt the best brownie recipe I've ever made. So fudgy, delicious, and extremely easy!
The best brownie recipe ever! These are quick and super easy, a family favorite that is quite happy in my recipe file! :)
Best brownies ever, bar none. Even made them with GF flour mix, and they still held up.
Although my favorite recipe is still the King Arthur Deep-Dark Fudgy Brownie, these are amazingly good. Quick and easy with a short ingredient list. I made them with the dried blueberries and white chocolate chunks. I did not use the foil because, frankly, I didn't see the point. Just gave my Pyrex dish a good coating of Pam baking spray.
After reading the reviews, I followed the ingredients/prep instructions to a "T" but skipped the foil & sprayed with Pam. Hubby ate one warm out of the oven, I waited until completely cooled. Absolutely chocolately, chewy goodness! Not overpowering like some brownies can be .. Probably dangerous because you can eat so many, so easily. Shared the recipe & am encouraging others to ditch those boxed mixes!!!
This is so easy! And hands down, the best brownies ever. We actually add more brown sugar, about 3/4 cup and less white, so also 3/4 cup. Then under bake them a little... They are amazing and chewy. So much better than box mix, and really just as easy!
SO delish and very easy to make. I will never make brownies from the box again! And I can't wait to try some of the variations!
I would make these again minus laying the aluminum foil in the pan. My edges turned to rocks. Very easy to make though and won't be turning to boxed mixes ever again! I did run out of butter and ended up using vegetable oil and made the peanut butter streusel topping. Enjoyed with a glass of milk! Check out my full review of the recipe at: http://imapretendchef.blogspot.com/2010/11/peanut-butter-streusel-brownies.html
Mmm, loved these!! A total hit! I used a tad bit less sugar (about 1/4c less overall), earth balance instead of butter, and used whole wheat flour and they were excellent! No one could tell it was made with whole wheat flour! I'll definitely make them again! :)
I made this entire recipe in one pot on the stove. Super easy. I used an 8" foil disposable pan (reduce bake time by 5-8 mins) spray with Pam. Easy to turn brownies out of and toss when done. Super moist and chocolaty - great compliments at the picnic.
Our most favorite brownies!
These were my first brownies "from scratch," and it couldn't have been easier. The foil came off perfectly and made cutting into squares a breeze. I tend to like my brownies more cake-like, and these are more fudge-like.
Awesome recipe! Tastes great and very easy to make. I followed the directions exactly and they couldn't have come out more perfect!
I couldn't believe how delicious these were and how easy they are to make. No mixer, few ingredients, easy cleanup. I used the foil and sprayed it with cooking spray- no sticking issues. I made the peanut butter ones last fall, and my friends now always request them for parties! Making them this weekend for the Super Bowl. They are an easy, fantastic crowd pleaser!
I LOVED these browines! They are not so rich that they are hard to eat but I'm not sure thats a good thing as its really easy to want to eat the whole pan! LOL
So much better than box mixes and just as easy to make! Had no problem baking them in the foil - used Pam and they came out beautifully! Took to friend's and they said I get to make the brownies from now on.
these are delicious! i followed the directions to a T, but the second batch i did not line the pan with foil. i think that helped slow down the cooking because in the first batch the edges got pretty hard. i haven't tried any of the toppings because these are so good and so rich just the way they are!
They were excellant. The brown sugar gave an extra richness. I tried a batch with peanut butter streusel topping and that seemed to be the biggest hit with my children. I liked the plain brownies but I am a purist.
HORRIBLE IDEA TO COOK IN FOIL. THE BATTER TOTALLY STUCK TO THE FOIL EVEN AFTER APPLYING BUTTER AND REQUIRED CAREFUL SCRAPING TO SALVAGE ANY OF THE BROWNIE TO SERVE WITH DESERT. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!
This is an excellent recipe...very easy to make. Far superior to your standard mix.
These brownies really are So Good! They are easy to make and very, very good. I also tried a batch with light butter my husband could not tell the difference.
These are fabulous and so easy. I've made them three times, twice plain and once with the peanut butter streusel topping. I love the pb streusel topping. Hubby loved them plain.
Absolutely the very best recipe - I added a chunk of Belgium chocolate also and it possibly made it even more gooey and mouthwatering. I will make this for the rest of my natural life!
Best brownie recipe ever! Made them (in mini cupcake size) for a large engagement party and they were the biggest hit of all the goodies on the dessert table! Making them again ASAP! It's so easy!
These brownies are fabulous!! Can't wait to try some topping variations.
I made this simple and easy recipe in less than an hour with less than 10 ingredients. It is better than any box brownie mix.
Absolutely delicious!! And so easy.
