Make this tangy meat sauce in the slow-cooker to top macaroni or other pasta. A quick and easy meal when you're craving some classic Italian flavors.

How to Make It

Step 1

Put onion in pot of slow cooker. Crumble ground beef on top and pour tomatoes over beef. Cover and cook for 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low. Break up any large pieces of beef with a wooden spoon. Season with salt. Remove half of sauce and reserve for another recipe; keep remaining sauce warm in slow cooker. (Makes about 2 1/2 quarts meat sauce.)

Step 2

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions, stirring often, until al dente. Drain and transfer to four shallow bowls. Spoon meat sauce over each portion of pasta. Serve with Parmesan cheese, basil and freshly ground pepper.

I am Italian and I'd like to think I know how to cook something... So, with that said. I added 10 cloves of pressed garlic and three teaspoons of Italian seasoning. I read this recipe and thought "It needs more flavor" so I did just that. And, it's good. Kind of like an easy bolognese sauce.... Some people may think I put too much garlic so if you like a little, use 5 cloves. The secret is always the garlic....

Definitely too bland just looking it over.I doctored this up when I made it and drained half of the fat off. I used Italian seasoning instead of the basil when cooking, and added garlic, and steak seasoning.

As written, this is not a healthy recipe. I browned 93% ground beef in a nonstick frying pan & drained it on paper towels, then put in crockpot. This cuts the fat substantially. I also used tomato puree instead of the tomatoes - my family doesn't like the texture of the canned tomatoes. I added oregano, basil, bay leaf to give it some flavor.

Way too many calories, fat, and carbs per serving. 23 grams of fat and 9 of them are saturated!! I may try this with ground turkey or chicken instead.

this recipe is super easy but super boring. definitely needs more seasonings. i even tried adding some spices while it cooked but it just didn't jazz it up. won't make again- deleting from my recipe file now!

this was SO bland...should've added my own spices to it. Would not make again, plus it makes too much for someone who doesn't like to reserve half the sauce for another recipe...don't do leftovers here! Kids & hubby did not like. Neither did I.
