Perfect. So easy.
You rated your own recipe 3 stars, not the BBQ Chicken recipe. I don't understand why people do this. Please only rate a recipe if you make it as it is stated.
Mmmmm. My husband loved this recipe. It is especially good with the recommended sweet potato cornbread and pickled peppers. We ate this meal at home on a Saturday evening during football season. I liked that I could sit back and let the slow cooker do its thing, keeping me out of the kitchen so I could enjoy watching football. I made the pickled peppers and sweet potato cornbread ahead of time. A perfect, delicious, low maintenance meal for a football-watching Saturday night.
I left out the lemon and made this with pork roast. I liked that the recipe used ingredients from my pantry. I didn't take the time to boil down the sauce, so I served the pork without it. My husband and stepdaughter both liked the flavor. I would make it again.
I'm cooking this now... Smells good! Using chicken breasts & half a lemon...It was done in two hours. I cut up the chicken and caramelized it in the sauce. Delicious! My 16 year old ate two helpings-she loved it!
I didn't find it lemony at all! This was delicious. I made it with chicken breast on the bone and served with mashed potatoes (cheesy cornbread for son who hates potatoes) and salad. We found it a tad dry, as we do most things in the crock pot, but next time will double the sauce and shred the cooked chicken into it. Everyone gave it two thumbs up! My house smells sooooo good......
I will make this, but leave out the lemon. That makes sense if the complaint if people are complaining the taste is to lemony.
I find the title of this recipe misleading. This is lemon chicken, does not taste anything like barbeque chicken. Chicken was very juicy and tender, but had to dip in bbq sauce to get any of that bbq flavor, used only 3/4 of a sliced lemon and it was still overpowering. Hubby didn't like at all. Only thing i omitted was the whiskey.
Was very moist and flavorful. If I had followed the recipe exactly, I'm pretty certain it would be a 5 star winner. But I need to be efficient and cook for at least 2 nights, so I tripled everything except lemon - just doubled, and was still too lemony....but not to the fault of the person who came up with this recipe, I take blame because I always seem to mess up recipes once I try to increase the output (boy, do I need cooking lessons). I will definitely try this again till I get it right!!
This is one of the best slow-cooker recipes I have come across. The chicken is super moist and the flavor is amazing.
My family loved it! I used thighs and wings instead of the cut up chicken. This is def a keeper!
My family did not like this recipe at all! They opted for another meal after they tasted this.
Love this recipe! It's easy, versatile and everyone loved it! I omitted the bourbon and used leg quarters. The chicken came out super moist and flavorful. Definitely will make again.
Haven't made it yet, but it's on my list to do....it sounds wonderful......
This recipe was spectacular! I would definitely serve this to company. It was hard to restrict myself to one serving. The chicken was so tender and all of the spice and sauce flavors permeated the meat prefectly. We're looking forward to leftovers, today, lucky us! The sauce is fairly thin,so I boiled it down on the stove for about 20 minutes or so,to thicken it,then skimmed off the fat. Just ladle that over and you're good to go.
Quick and easy, and my kids loved it. Requires minimal ingredients which most home cooks have on hand. Perfect for a crowd as well a a good meal after running around to kids sporting events. I served this dish with couscous to soak up the plentiful gravy! Yum
My family loved the barbecued chicken. I omitted the bourbon and it was delicious. The meat fell off the bones. I definitely would suggest making this. It was so easy.
I made the "whole nine yards': the chicken, the sweet potato cornbread, the pickled peppers & onions and the Low Country Slaw. I thought it was all very good. My husband didn't like the cornbread, but he thinks the only good cornbread is plain ole cornbread made in a black-iron skillet with bacon grease. I love the crunchy peppers and onions. And the low-country slaw was different and very good. I thought the chicken was a little dry, but that was probably my fault.
