Serves 4 (serving size: about 3 ounces steak and 3/4 cup rice)

How to Make It

Step 1

Cook rice according to package directions.

Step 2

Place butter and miso in a large bowl, stirring to combine. Sprinkle steak evenly with pepper and salt. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add steak to pan; cook 2 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Add steak to butter mixture; toss to coat. Sprinkle steak with green onions.

Step 3

Stir rice vinegar and oil into rice. Serve rice with steak mixture.

Miso Butter is addicting...

Loved this recipe. We made it with Gardein Beefless Tips (trying to cut down on our meat consumption) and it still was outstanding. Served it with the Roasted Asparagus & Shiitake Mushrooms ( as printed in the magazine. Relatively simple and delicious meal.

Really easy meal.  I used flank steak.  Next time, I'll grill the meat whole then cut up and mix with the miso butter.  Definitely worth keeping this in the regular rotation.

So, so good, and so easy. I made brown rice the night before (reheats easily in the microwave), and also cut the sirloin when it was still a bit frozen (easier to get small pieces that way). Followed the recipe exactly except that I cut it to 3/4 but kept the full amount of butter and miso. Were I using a whole pound of beef, I might up the miso butter a bit. Made the mushrooms and asparagus as well.  So easy to put this together after work and just so tasty. This one is really a keeper.

Very good! I left the oil and vinegar out of the rice and flavored it with the miso butter instead, and it was really tasty, quick and easy.Will definitely make this again.

The miso butter was delicious, especially in combination with the asparagus and shitake mushrooms in the same bite. I personally found the sesame oil in the rice to be a bit much even after I used less than suggested in the recipe and more of the vinegar (almost 3 tbsp.). Overall good though, and will make again, it was super easy.

Loved this!! Even my husband, who usually isn't a fan of Asian food, really loved the miso butter sauce. I made it with the Roasted Asparagus and Shiitake Mushrooms, as was suggested in the print magazine. Great pairing. I will definitely make this again.
