I made these potatoes and they were delicious, I was wondering if you could assemble the day before and do the final bake when your company arrives ?
This dish was absolutely delicious!! I cooked the potatoes longer so they were pretty much cooked when I put them in the baking dish. Just had to brown the cheese on top and was done. We went a step further as we were cooking peas with mushrooms for a vegetable, so I decided to incorporate it in with the recipe. I sautéed them up with the onions and garlic. It made our meal quicker and easier having it all together. I made extra cheese sauce to cover it all and sprinkled shredded cheese on top. We added some extra seasonings as well, garlic powder, smoked paprika. Our family loves flavor and this recipe was the bomb for everyone. Quick simple dish the way I done it, saved time. Wished I could add a picture to this. We had it with fried pork chops and it made a perfect meal…
OMG this just blows all other potato side dishes out of the water!! I made it the first time this weekend and it was PERFECT! I do wedding catering and I'm going to use this from now on! Spot on, perfect choice for cheese. Can't say enough about this!!
Used the technique but changed up ingredients. Seared potatoes, used stock in roux with onions. Cheese, milk. Wonderful texture, flavor was outstanding. Used cast iron pan. Definitely a go to recipe.
Was delicious used a nonstck pan and changed pans before baking in the oven with less butter and oil.. came out perfect.. but couldnt baste too many potatoes.. So just used a little melted unsalted butter. To baste with . Came out delicious.. Also used gouda cheese and thyme and Cilantro and parsley with 1 1/2 cup cream in sauce..
These would have been awesome except everything but the potatoes burned to a crisp. What did i do wrong? After i browned the potatoes, should i have started with a clean pan? The butter burned, the garlic burned and so did the cream sauce in the oven. Help! Can you advise what i did wrong? Im sure they would have been amazing
