This recipe lacks flavor big time. I had to add a ton of garlic, extra roasted peppers, cayenne for spice, extra salt, etc. It's a great base, but prepare to improvise.
Very easy to make! I like this recipe because it contains no added oil! I found the Tahini in a jar in the Natural/organic aisle of my grocery store! I added more roasted red pepper to bring out more flavour! Delicious snack with carrot sticks!
I agree with the reviewer who said this recipe is lacking something. However, I'd still make it again. My 21-month-old daughter LOVED it -- she didn't want to dip veggies or pita chips; she just wanted to eat it with a spoon! Maybe that's the problem ... it's mild enough for little ones, but not complex enough for adults.
Awesome! Added cayenne pepper and cumin. roasted the garlic and doubled the amount. Used the water from the chickpea can. So good! This hummus is smooth but too not oily like most hummus.
There's definitely something off with this recipe. For one, it has too much tahini sauce. I've monkeyed around with it, and after adding twice as many bell peppers, some lemon juice, extra garlic, cayenne pepper, and extra salt, I finally got it to taste pretty good. But, then it's not really the same recipe at all, is it?
Boring and bland. I keep looking for a great hummus recipe, and I just haven't been able to find one. This one is just lacking something. I find myself wanting to add salt to it - it just needs more of something, and I don't know what! I could try to make it again with more red peppers and some hot sauce or something, but I don't think it would help. I'll keep looking for a better recipe.
The tahini I used was a little bitter. I recommend extra garlic (I used 1-2 tsp of preminced), another 1/3 cup of red peppers, and a couple of dashes of hot sauce. Very tasty. Excellent for a party dip.
