What better way to use gifted peper jelly than to spice up your cocktails? This beverage is sweet and sour with a sublte hotness. Serve a drink that is fun, different, and just plain smart at your next fall or holiday get-together.
1 1/2 cups red pepper jelly
1 cup water
2 cups (16 oz) bourbon
2 cups fresh lemon juice (from about 16 lemons)
1/2 tablespoon (1/4 oz) Peychaud's bitters
4 cups ginger ale
How to Make It
Combine red pepper jelly and water in a small saucepan over medium. Cook, stirring occasionally, until jelly is dissolved and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat, and cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
Combine pepper jelly syrup, bourbon, lemon juice, and bitters in a large pitcher filled with ice; stir until blended. Add ginger ale, and stir to blend. Serve immediately in glasses filled with ice; garnish with lemon slices.
