Great subtle flavor. I liked it better when it was chilled over night.

It does not NEED... actually, not only different parts of the country make it differently, different RESTAURANTS have their own recipies.. actually some use sweet relish, some use dill relish, I use a combo of both. Some use lemon, some do not. Don't get stuck on "there's only one..." of anything, it's a BIG world out there. My sisters are like that, they for some reason cannot enjoy trying new things. They make one spaghetti sauce, a red sauce exactly like mom made it, will not even TRY any other kinds. Variety is the spice of life man... try them all and have MANY in your arsenal and ENJOY!

It was excellent.  Once I had the three ingredients, mixed up doses until it tasted awesome!  It's one of the best tasting tartar sauces my family ever had!  Thanks for the recipe.

Tartar sauce needs to be made with dill not sweet pickle relish, chopped onion, and garlic.Other things are optional ie. lemon juice, capers ,yogurt Tabasco or sour cream
