This recipe was fantastic and it got lots of compliments, but I used unsweetened cocoa instead of coffee. Because yuck! :)
Made some nice tasting bread. On idea what it was but I'm sure after 6 years in Germany it wasn't pumpernickel!
My fiance and I just used this recipe and it was delicious! Only substitution we made was cocoa powder instead of coffe grounds.:)
I have baked this bread several times and have been happy with it. I am always careful to add the flour a cup at a time because it doesn't always need it all. I toss in a couple cups of Raisins and it is a really tasty bread.
I (and those who know me) consider me an excellent cook. I followed this recipe to the letter. The product looked nothing like the picture nor did it taste like ANY Pumpernickle Bread that I've ever tasted!
