Sweet potato and turnip turn an otherwise straightforward mash into an intriguing dish with subtle earthy, sweet notes.

How to Make It

Combine first 3 ingredients in a large saucepan; cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 20 minutes or until tender. Drain well; return to pan over medium-low heat. Add butter; mash potato mixture with a potato masher. Stir in sour cream and remaining ingredients.

This was bitter. I think it was because of the turnip. It would've been better with just sweet and regular mashed potatoes.

5/3/2014 I will never want to eat just regular mashed potato again! Absolutely fabulous and so simple and fast. I didn't have turnip but had rutabaga which I prefer. Very Nice.

This was delicious and a nice change from standard mashed potatoes. I halved the recipe and it still made a bunch.
