Don’t let the grits for you – it only gives the pie custard body and it comes out a little like a chess pie. It is very good, easy and reliable. The only thing I would add is to give yourself some extra time because I find that it takes longer than an hour most of the time to cook all the way through. I just testing it after that first hour passes. Also makes a pretty plate if you add strawberries or raspberries on the side, or even a drizzle of chocolate sauce on the plate
Best pie I've ever eaten. A friend served me this years ago, and I've been making it ever since.
