  • Combine flour, salt, and pepper; stir well. Dredge tomato slices in flour mixture.

  • Melt butter in a large skillet. Fry tomato slices on one side until browned. Remove from skillet, and place in a 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking dish, browned side down.

  • Top each tomato slice with 1 teaspoon brown sugar. Broil 3 inches from heat 5 minutes or until browned and bubbly.
