Clear the kitchen counters and carve out some time with your kids this holiday season to make these Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies. You'll have just as much fun cutting the festive shapes as you will enjoying their flavor!

How to Make It

In a large bowl, beat butter and shortening with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Cover and chill dough for 3 hours. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to a 1/8-inch thickness; cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Arrange on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes, or until golden.

I followed the recipe exactly as written, and the dough was WAY too sticky. I ended up having to add at least another cup of flour, if not more, before the cookies started coming out correctly. I have no idea how this recipe could work without adding a lot more flour. Once I fixed the dough, though, they were good!
