"New Hampshire folk feel almost as strongly about their maple syrup as they do about their 'first in the nation' presidential primary. The people here like this dressing, which I toss with bagged, washed salad greens just before serving." -BL
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
3 tablespoons whole-grain Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
How to Make It
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl, stirring with a whisk.
This is my family's favorite salad dressing. Sometimes I'll substitute red onions when I don't have shallots. Sometimes if I'm in a hurry I'll just throw together the maple syrup, mustard, oil and vinegar and I still get that nice sweet flavor. Love it!
This is a great 'honey mustard' dressing. You dont taste the maple which is nice.
I found it a little too sweet with all the syrup though and prefer to use 1/4 cup syrup and a couple dashes more vinegar. Perfect!
GREAT! I had been looking for a homemade, lowfat salad dressing and this is just perfect.
It tastes like a homemade dressing from a 5 star restaurant... best of all it's low fat too! I was a
bit worried about the maple syrup, since maple isn't my favorite flavor. You cannot even taste the maple syrup in there. I agree with the other reviewer that said that it is like a REALLY good honey mustard vinegarette. Thanks for another great recipe, I will be making this often!
