ok, nothing to make it special enough to make again. i did have problems unmolding and having the pieces stick together.
@cookingcurrie The cream cheese goes in the sauce on top of the bread. At the end of the recipe it says, " Combine powdered sugar, remaining milk, and remaining ingredients in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk. Microwave at HIGH 20 seconds or until warm. Drizzle over bread." The cream cheese ingredient is part of the "remaining ingredients". Hope that helps clarify things.
Has anyone added the cream cheese? The recipe has it as an ingredient but not sure where/when it is added. For that reason I gave it a one star.
Let me just say this is dangerously delicious. I ate probably half of it after it came out of the oven. So good. It was time consuming waiting for each rise. So I probably won't make it often b/c of the time (and my waistline). But great to bring for a party or brunch.
Great recipe! I was looking for something different for christmas morning and am glad I found this. Instead of butter, I used canola oil. And since I had no brown sugar, I used black strap molasses. I didnt have a bundt pan either, so used 2 round cake pans. And it is perfect without the sweet topping.
This is so delicious! You can't even tell it is reduced calorie! Or would be if you stuck to the allotted serving size amount... Moist, sweet, and oh so good! I made it as a fun afterschool snack for the kids and they and my husband and I almost devoured the whole thing. It is not a difficult recipe at all! Will definitely be making this again!
Made this for Christmas morning and everyone really loved it. Did it the day before and just reheated it in oven the morning of. It was little more work than using the frozen bread dough but well worth it for the reduced calories. Tasted just as yummy as full calorie method. Forgot the frosting and no one missed it either!
So good, even without the glaze! Christmas morning for sure!
delicious but time consuming. I don't keep whole wheat flour on hand, so I make mine with all white flour (probably less healthy but whatever). I always need more of the cinnamon/brown sugar mixture (probably 2x).
This is delicious even without the glaze. I started it with a hand mixer. That was a mistake. It wasn't strong enough. I then transferred it to the bread maker to mix the dough. That worked fine. I had to let it rise in the oven because it wasn't hot enough in the house. It's not as quick as I would like - it would be a great breakfast bread.
Great recipe! This makes an impressive housewarming gift or a yummy breakfast. I tried doing the second rise in the fridge overnight and it worked great.
I had high expectations for this recipe given the reviews and the home made dough. It was truly awful. The whole wheat flour made the dough tough and the taste was just off. I tasted a piece and threw out the rest. Very disappointing and a waste of time and ingredients.
This recipe is a keeper!! I've made this twice. First time I followed the recipe accordingly and I couldn't believe how perfect and good it was. Very kid friendly too. The second time I made it, I made cinnamon rolls. I followed the recipe up until the end. Rather than dividing it into 8 equal portions and making balls, I rolled out the entire dough with little effort and spread a light coating of melted butter, then sprinkled a mixture of cinnamon, sugar, and a little allspice over the butter. Then rolled up the dough and sliced it less than an inch thick to make cinnamon rolls. I let them rise for an hour on cookie sheets and then baked them on 350 for 14-15 minutes. Allowed to cool for a few minutes and then drizzled icing over the top. They were so good.
I LOVED this! We left off the glaze because it was sweet and gooey enough without. Otherwise, we made it just how it said, and it turned out great. I can't wait to make it again!
I've had the traditional monkey bread made with refrigerated biscuits and have always thought it was delicious. Well, this recipe was also AMAZING and close enough in taste and texture to the caloric version that I'm never going back! It had just enough sweetness and it made me feel better eating it knowing that it had whole wheat flour in it and around a third of the calories of the other version. YUM!
This was the best recipe! My first time making monkey bread, and it did not dissapoint. It was time consuming with having to wait for the dough to rise but it was so worth it in the end. I made it this morning for breakfast and thinking about making abother one for breakfast tomorrow because the first one is all gone!
