How to Make It

Step 1

Fry chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes or until browned. Add onion; saute until tender. Stir in beans and remaining ingredients; pour into a 13- x 9-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

Made this for a Father's Day bbq and it was a big hit. I used Van Camps beans (traditional and hickory flavors), mild flavor molasses, and Tobasco sauce. There is a strong mustard flavor, so if you want to avoid that then use a different type. It wasn't a bad flavor, it just really came through. I'd recommend adding 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of hot sauce to cut through some of the sweetness. Oh, and my cousin who HATES baked beans loved these.
