How to Make It

Step 1

Trim broccoli stems to about 3 inches in length; peel stems. Cut broccoli lengthwise into spears.

Step 2

Place broccoli in a large skillet; add 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil; cover and cook 5 minutes. Uncover; stir in remaining ingredients.

Mine came out soggy and tasted of soap thanks to the lemon zest. I prefer roasting or even just quickly microwaving to this method.

Used broccoli crowns because they were on sale so no trimming of stalk was needed.  Steamed broccoli til al dente, melted butter, added salt, pepper and lemon zest and drizzled it over the cooked broccoli.  Served this with grilled swordfish with pesto and orzo with prosciutto.  Bright flavor from the broccoli  and zing from the lemon made this a lively dish.

Always looking for ways to change up broccoli.  I steamed the stalks for 12 minutes.  Loved the lemon zest with the pepper.  Will make again.
