Hot Cocoa Mix is a welcome gift to fend off the chill of winter. This chocolatey mix even includes the marshmallows! Mix with either water or milk.

How to Make It

Sift all ingredients except marshmallows into a bowl. Whisk to combine.

I haven't made this hot cocoa mix yet but I wondered why you put corn starch in it, Can I use arrowroot powder instead? I will make powdered sugar using Trivia, by putting it in my Vitamix.

This is a good basic recipe. For each serving, place 1/3 cup cocoa mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup hot water or hot milk (richer). Store remaining mix in airtight container."

I read the reviews hoping that MyRecipes had commented on the lack of instructions. Some people can't boil water so it would be nice to be able to tell the person we give the "gift" to how much water to add. I do like that Kellis4 suggested using Dutch processed cocoa powder. I give 5 stars for a recipe. I give no stars for instructions.

Try using Dutch processed cocoa powder instead of regular unsweetened cocoa powder. The processing takes away the bitterness of regular cocoa powder.

The mix itself was good - I was looking for a recipe that didn't call for powdered creamer, so I was happy to find this recipe! I'm not sure if it's the cocoa I used (Hershey's Unsweetened), but when I mixed it with water, it tasted a little bitter to me. I couldn't put my finger on it, but something was off, so I tried it again this time with milk instead of water and it tasted much better, so for now I'm sticking with the milk. Overall though, a great recipe!
