Fabulous! Used high-quality sashimi grade tuna and grilled quickly to keep it rare on the inside. Served alongside Hot Sichuan-Style Green Beans, Asian Carmelized Pineapple and Spicy Peanut Noodles.
A good friend brought us fresh tuna. I was out of hoison sauce and did not have any bourbon, so substituted plum sauce and McNaughton's whiskey. I served it with the potatoes suggested in the menu and added a green salad with granny smith apples and blue cheese. Delicious summer meal.
I think this is the best tuna recipe I have ever had. I used soy sauce instead of hoisin and I left out the maple syrup. I then added the tuna to the 'marinade' for 1/2 hour. We grilled the tuna on a gas grill and basted with the 'marinade'. Then we pressed in some black seseme seeds. We served it with wasibi. This was worth 10 stars!
