Slender haricots verts need little embellishment. Here they're tossed with a good dose of shallots and pine nuts. Once it's cooked, the flavor mellows considerably. If you can't find the tiny French green beans, substitute regular green beans and increase the cook time in boiling water to five minutes to ensure they're done.
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
3 tablespoons chopped shallots
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
8 ounces trimmed haricots verts (French green beans)
1 tablespoon pine nuts, toasted
Est. added sugars 0g
How to Make It
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add next 4 ingredients (through haricots verts) to pan; cook 6 minutes or until beans are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle evenly with nuts.
Although this recipe is fast and easy, it just doesn't have the flavor that we were looking for. The sauce is poor and needs something more. Our full review with pictures can be found here: http://www.nickandalonakitchen.com/2016/12/haricots-verts-with-shallots-and-pine.html
