Ever notice how after every cookout, you seem to find yourself with a handful of leftover hamburger buns, but not so many leftover burgers to fill them? Don’t toss the strays, turn them into breakfast with this brilliant recipe for burger bun donuts.

How to Make It

Step 1

Using a 3/4-inch round cutter, cut out a hole from center of each bun half. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high to 350°F.

Step 2

Fry each “donut” in hot oil for 1 minute, turning after 30 seconds. Drain on a wire rack set over a paper towel-lined rimmed baking sheet.

Step 3

Whisk together powdered sugar and water in a medium bowl until smooth. Dip outer side of each “donut” in glaze; return to wire rack until slightly set.
