This lightened version of French toast is made with egg whites instead of whole eggs, orange juice and whole wheat bread and has less than 5 grams of fat per serving.

How to Make It

Step 1

Whisk together first 4 ingredients in a shallow dish. Dip bread slices in egg mixture, coating both sides.

Step 2

Melt butter on a griddle or in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place bread slices on hot griddle, and pour remaining egg mixture over bread slices. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden. Drizzle with maple syrup, and top with fruit.

Absolutely delicious. The splash of orange juice gives the toast a lighter but flavorful taste. Accompanied by the fruit (you can really use any fruit you want), this makes for a great meal that we make over and over again.
