How to Make It

Place 4 of the waffles on a work surface. Spread one side of each with the mustard (if using). Top with the ham, cheese, and the remaining waffles. Spread the top of each sandwich with 1/2 tablespoon of the butter. Melt the remaining butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet, buttered-side up. Cook, pressing occasionally with the back of a spatula, until the cheese melts and the waffles are golden, 3 to 4 minutes on each side.

These are a fun addition to my family's dinner table! This may sound weird, and I am usually not an odd combo kind of eater, but try dipping your sandwiches in maple syrup! It is actually quite good! While I was making these I felt compelled to try the syrup & talked myself out of it 3 or 4 times. But when it was time to actually dig in, I decided to go for it--and I liked it! I'd say the taste combination of the waffle, salty ham & syrup is similar to a good Monte Cristo served with strawberry jam--yummy.

Delicious and quick! My very picky 7 year old gave me a thumbs up after taking his first bite. We will definitely be making this one again.

These were so easy and delicious, I will make again, many times probably! Next time I will try toasting the waffles a bit before assembling, I like more crunch to my waffles.

This tastes absolutely INCREDIBLE! I've told all my friends and neighbors. We have these sandwiches at least a couple times each month. The flavor is great, the texture suburb! Try it! You can't go wrong! Easy and delicious - what a combination!
