  • Whisk together flour, cinnamon, and cloves in a medium bowl, and set aside.

  • Whisk together molasses, water, coconut oil, and ginger in another bowl until combined. Stir molasses mixture into dry ingredients, and stir until a dough forms. Wrap dough in plastic wrap, and chill 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  • Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, and roll to 1/4-inch thickness.

  • Use any desired bone-shape or festive cookie cutters, and cut dough into various shapes. Excess dough may be re-rolled and cut.

  • Place shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake in preheated oven until slightly firm, 7 to 9 minutes. Let cool to room temperature, about 10 minutes.

  • Beat together cream cheese and maple syrup with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Color as desired. Decorate cookies with icing.
