This delights with true gingerbread flavor. The combination of gingerbread and chocolate is delicious and works beautifully. The spices are extremely complementary with apples so I served it with Quick Apple Dumplings (SL), a perfect match! I did find it a bit sweet so if you want to add marshmallows or whipped cream it really packs a sugar wallop. I personally would reduce the sugar to my taste; however, no one else minded. :) Be mindful it is a huge yield, so we (family of four) halved it, stored leftover mixture in a sealed pitcher in the fridge and reheated cups to enjoy during the week.

I made this tonight and it was so delicious!! I absolutely love hot chocolate, so I'm always looking for different recipes to try. I've made so many different kinds, and this is definitely one of my favorites. The spices give it a really nice and unique flavor that really resembled gingerbread. My family and I sipped it while watching The Grinch Stole Christmas, and it put us in the best mood(: Will definitely make again. Would be great in coffee too!
