Dress up humble green beans with a little garlic, butter, salt, pepper, and olive oil for a simple side dish that's sure to draw rave reviews.

How to Make It

Step 1

Cook green beans in boiling salted water to cover 3 minutes or until crisp-tender; drain. Plunge green beans into ice water to stop the cooking process, and drain.

Step 2

Melt butter with oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat; add green beans, garlic, salt, and pepper, and sauté 4 to 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

Chef's Notes

Blanch the green beans (Step 1) up to a day ahead. When you are ready to prepare supper, just toss the green beans in the skillet and sauté.

Excellent and simple. Grown up green beans! Used pre-washd French cut green beans and threw in a few baby carrots that I had left over. Served for Thanksgiving..pretty!

Substituted 1.5 tsp of pre-minced garlic and sauteed first in the butter/oil - I like garlic. Super easy to make. Instant hit.

This was probably one of the easiest and tastiest side dishes that I have done in a while. I made this for a dinner with my brother and sister in law and they loved them. My sister in law even wants me to make these for Thanksgiving!

Absolutely delicious! Garlic makes everything bettter. I didn't use butter, only olive oil, and I used blue lake beans, and our guests really enjoyed it. I will save this simple and wonderful recipe!
