5 packets of gelatin with this amount of liquid made rubber candies.
Make your first batch with 4 packets of gelatin and if they're still rubber, you'll come down to starting with 3 and 1/2 packets....given your local weather, temperature, etc.
3/4 cup of fruit juice barely gave it flavor. I used organic, 100% no pulp orange juice and when I tasted the liquid I knew it was going to be bland, so I added 1 tsp of orange extract. That wasn't enough. So taste your sugar and juice mixture and adjust its flavor up a few degrees because you're going to add another cup of liquid with your softened gelatin.
This was a great lesson in how to make jellied candies. It was quick and easy and very gratifying, but do check your flavors before you waste your ingredients.
Many other juices can be used. Alter any of them to suit your taste and then proceed to roll in sugar or dip in chocolate.
Great watermelon juice is in the stores.
If you want raspberry, there is no juice in my stores, but your can buy frozen, blend them frozen and strain. A fun activity with kids if you have the patience to let the gelatin melt properly, but it needs serious flavor fixing.
