1 (16-ounce) can whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried whole oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried whole basil
Dash of red pepper
1 (16-ounce) can pinto beans, undrained
How to Make It
Combine ground beef, onion, and garlic in a large Dutch oven; cook until meat is browned, stirring to crumble meat. Drain off pan drippings. Add water, tomatoes, tomato sauce, flour, salt, sugar, chili powder, cumin, oregano, basil, and pepper, mixing well. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add pinto beans, and simmer an additional 30 minutes.
Ladle into individual bowls, and serve immediately.
