Barbecue season is here, but we'll let you in on a secret: All you really need for crowd-pleasing ribs is the right recipe and a slow cooker. Savory, tender, juicy, and slow-cooked to perfection, this recipe for Easy BBQ Ribs is our newest and best. And just because it's easy doesn't mean this recipe lacks character. Add our homemade Rib Rub and Fancy Barbecue Sauce for a foolproof meal that's truly special.

How to Make It

Step 1

Rinse slab, and pat dry with paper towels. Remove thin membrane from back of ribs by slicing into it with a knife and then pulling it off. (This will make ribs more tender.) Reserve 1/2 Tbsp. Rib Rub; sprinkle both sides of ribs with remaining rub. Wrap ribs in plastic wrap; chill 8 to 12 hours.

Step 2

Stir together pineapple juice, next 2 ingredients, and reserved 1/2 Tbsp. Rib Rub in a 6 qt. slow cooker. Cut slab in half, and stack halves in slow cooker. Cover and cook on HIGH 1 hour. Reduce heat to LOW, and cook 4 to 5 hours or until ribs are tender.

Step 3

Preheat broiler with oven rack 10 inches from heat. Remove ribs from slow cooker, and place in a single layer in a heavy-duty aluminum foil-lined jelly-roll pan. Brush both sides of ribs with Fancy Barbecue Sauce. Broil ribs 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until caramelized. Serve with remaining barbecue sauce.

Chef's Notes

Ribs may be cooked entirely on LOW for 6 to 7 hours or until tender.

WOW WOW WOW!  I'm thought cook that looks and looks and tries and tries to find the perfect recipe for each genre. BINGO!  Tis is the best ribs you'll ever try without a grill.  I used a crockpot and then broiled it in my oven, using foil for easy clean-up.  I encourage the use of extra bbq sauce bc once it broils with the ribs, it goes down in history as one of the best things you'll ever taste!

I made these recently to test them as an option in case it rains on Memorial Day. I may make them even if it's sunny. They're so easy and delicious I know everyone will love them. You can see my full review at Taking On Magazines: http://www.takingonmagazines.com/easy-slow-cooker-bbq-ribs/

Made these for a family gathering-very big hit. We used Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ sauce and finished them on the grill, rather than the broiler, other than that, I followed the recipe. Delicious, fall off the bone good.

So tender

These were the most tender, fall off the bone rib's EVER. I don't see how the earlier reviewer made it to the grill. Mine fell off the bone lifting them from the crockpot. I didn't skip anything but wondered why pineapple juice? Anyone have a reason? Next time ( and there definitely will be a next time) I might do less cumin in the rub. I thought the flavor was too strong.
