Makes 12 to 16 appetizer servings

How to Make It

Step 1

Beat first 6 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until blended; stir in pecans.

Step 2

Shape mixture into a 5- x 5- x 2-inch box, or spoon into a 5-cup mold. Cover and chill 8 hours or up to two days.

Step 3

Spoon cranberry sauce over cheese mixture; garnish, if desired. Serve with crackers or bread rounds.

Step 4

Note: To decorate the box, cut white part from 4 green onions. Blanch green onion tops in boiling water 1 minute or until tender, saving white part for other uses. Drain. Press 1 green onion strip into base of center of 1 side of box, pressing up sides until it meets center of top of box. Remove and discard excess green onion. Repeat with remaining green onion strips. Top center with fresh cranberries, orange curls, and additional strips of green onion, if desired.

I made this for a bridal shower and for several Christmas parties and it is always wonderful. Have served with strawberry jelly instead of cranberries and is equally good. Everyone wants to recipe. Easy to make and can be made in advance. Recommend to any level cook.

I just made this for a dinner party, it was a show stopper that's for sure. I made it ahead of time, wrapped it in plastic wrap to keep it from drying out. Before company arrived I placed the cranberries and garnished as directed. It looked like a Christmas package, very festive! The flavors were amazing! Everyone wanted the recipe, not an ordinary cheese ball that's for sure!

I just made this for a christmas party, and I was so pleased with the results! I thought it tasted really good plus it was so cute with the decoration! It was eaten up and I had many compliments. I did not make any changes. I will make this again soon.
