This is cranberry sauce to write home about. It gets a surprise pungency from horseradish and a sweet splash of sugar. It's a beautiful jewel-toned appetizer when spooned over cream cheese. Or you may choose to give a gift jar of it to the cook.

  • Stir together first 5 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring often. Remove from heat. Cover and chill 1 hour or up to 3 days.
