These margaritas are always a favorite. It's definitely worth taking the time to squeeze the limes. If you microwave them for 20 to 30 seconds beforehand, they will release even more juice.

How to Make It

Step 1

Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; boil 3 minutes, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Place pan in a large ice-filled bowl until syrup cools to room temperature (about 10 minutes), stirring occasionally.

Step 2

Combine syrup, tequila, lime juice, and liqueur in a pitcher. If desired, rub a lime wedge around rims of 12 margarita glasses, and dip rims in salt. Place 1/2 cup crushed ice in each glass. Pour margarita mixture evenly over ice. Garnish with lime wedges, if desired.

YAHOO! GREAT margarita, simple and sooo good! I made the simple syrup with Splenda and didn't notice any difference in taste. Served over crushed ice for Cinco de Mayo. Now my go-to margarita recipe. Makes enough for a group. Highly recommend!

This is a true margarita! No sweet 'n' sour mix or powdered sugar here! If someone says they don't like margaritas, have them try this! I made the full recipe, leaving out the lime juice but put it, as well as pomegranate and mango juices, in glasses on the side so guests could make whichever flavor they wanted. Very tasty!
