Classic Margarita
Hint: Our nutrition guidelines don't allow for it, but this is easily doubled. Use respectable ($28 or so a bottle) tequila and fresh-squeezed lime juice--the ingredients define this cocktail as much as the technique.

Amazing. Have not stopped making it.

Grand Marnier is basically orange flavored brandy, and to me at least, the brandy notes weigh down a drink that is best when it is light and add an extra amount of sweetness that becomes cloying. Go with Cointreau instead. You could leave out the orange liqueur for what is called a "Tommy's Margarita", but if you're including it (which I think you should) do not add it after the shake. FWIW, try 2 oz. of blanco tequila, 1 oz. fresh lime juice, and 3/4 oz. Cointreau. Shake with ice, stream, strain over ice in a small rocks glass with salted rim.
