It did not get thicker at all. I know this is a creme anglaise and it should not be as thick as pastry cream, but it didn’t get thicker at all. Also, the mixture should cool before adding chocolate so it does not seize up, which it will do if you add it instantly.
Completely disappointing. I made this recipe TWICE. neither batch set at all. I'm an experienced baker/cook. I measure and prep (like sifting, chopping, etc...) all my ingredients before I start. I can't figure out what went wrong if it was something I did (with both batches?!). I used fresh and good quality ingredients.
Very frustrating considering I made this recipe to serve my dinner guests. I was embarrassed to say the least. I should not have uses an untested recipe when I was expecting guests.
I will say the flavor is lovely. Maybe I'll pop it in the ice cream maker and see if I can salvage the recipe...
