Both parts of this recipe were pretty yummy. As others have said, it's surprising the flank steak was so tender with no marinating. It was very good.
The cheese sauce is also delicious.
I just didn't see how the two things complemented each other. We had it was sweet potato mash and baked zucchini straws. The cheese sauce was great for the zucchini and the sweet potatoes were a nice contrast to the spicy rub.
So quick and easy to make! The cheese sauce is absolutely the most delish thing too!
I marinated the steak with the seasonings listed, some olive oil, and lime juice. Other then that did everything as listed, and it was really great. My husband LOVED this dish. I made it with roasted red potatoes and sauteed spinach. Really great.
This was a great recipe! It was simple and the flavor was outstanding. I wouldn't change anything. I served this with the risotto-stuffed tomatoes also from this site. Delish! My boyfriend said it was the best thing I've ever made. Thank you MYRECIPES.
Easy and delicious! Will definitely make again.
This was really good. I was concerned that the flank steak might be tough since it was not marinated but it was fine. I doubled the sauce but didn't really need to since a little goes a long way as far as flavor goes. I substituted blue cheese since I already had it and it was a great compliment to the steak. We grilled the steak and served it with a baked sweet potato and asparagus.
Really good smoky flavor that paired well with the gorgonzola. I served cous cous on the side as suggested. Went well together! Came together as described, simple, and delicious.
This is an awesome recipe; we enjoyed it tonight. It is one of our regulars and I dont have many of those.
Loved the sauce, but I used blue cheese as I didn't have gorgonzola on hand. Grilled the steak on our Traeger. Was a little nervous about the chipotle being too spicy for DD so only used half. Next time, will use the full amount as it wasn't spicy at all. Served with garlic cous cous and steamed spinach. Would definitely make this again.
The flavor is wonderful! And the left-overs from tonight will make a fantastic sandwich tomorrow.
My first time cooking steak and it was a bit more red than we prefer. After slicing, I threw it back in the broiler for another 5 minutes just to brown it a bit more. (It was medium rare, I took it to medium well) I'd definitely make it again, VERY easy for an amateur like me!
This is REALLY good. I would almost put a little more chipotle on my steak next time, but the sauce is amazing and goes on everything from meat to veggies.
Best recipe I have had on this site...
I could not mop up enough of the sauce between the delicious steak and couscous. This one was a winner I look forward to serving again! Just follow the recipe and you'll be golden.
We added a little olive oil and lime juice to the rub and marinated the steak over night, because I have never had much luck with flank stead without marinating it first. It turned out delicious. I thought rub would make it too spicy, but it was perfect. Also, i admit to being a cheese freak and gogonzola is one of my favorites, but omg - that sauce was delish. I would eat it on almost anything :) Didn't have the whole menu, so we made mashed potatoes and steamed boccoli.
Okay, I LOVE cooking light and all of its recipes and am usually pretty good at putting them together, but my husband compared this to a "just married and trying to learn how to cook" meal. I used the recipe from the magazine, so it had the spinach and couscous recipes with it as well. The steak was WAY too spicy, the spinach was not nearly enough for 4 people (and I used 9 oz rather than the 6 the recipe calls for), and the couscous had WAY too much liquid in it. It was more the consistency of mashed potatoes (I didn't even know that was possible). I love couscous, and I couldn't even eat it - it all got thrown out! I say the recipe has potential because I could tweak all of it to make it better, but if you are making this for the first time, beware.
We love flank steak and this was VERY GOOD! We grilled the spice rubbed flank steak for about 6 min per side for Med rare. I only had Maytag blu on hand, so used that with half skim/half soy milk. Would definitely serve company!!
LOVED how this turned out with grass-fed flank steak. For the first side I think I had it too close to the broiler, so I moved it down a level for the second side. It turned out really well, but I am glad I'd lowered it because it probably would have been too done otherwise. I didn't make the sauce, as it didn't sound like something our family would like.
Oh man, that cheese sauce was amazing! Perfectly balanced the spice of the steak. The side dishes were both great and made a nice, well-rounded meal. 6oz of spinach didn't seem like much for two people, let alone four.
Delicious! The strong cheese was a perfect match with the spicy steak. So easy to make too! My boyfriend requested this meal once a week. Paired with some sauteed asparagus.
This was delicious. The blue cheese sauce was the perfect offset to the spicy chipotle rub. I made it as written except that I used rocquefort instead of gorgonzola and almond milk instead of milk. I will be adding this to my standard rotation.
