Chewy Blonde Brownies are the delicious cousins of chocolate brownies and are easy to make with ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.

How to Make It

Step 1

Combine butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl, mixing well. Add egg and vanilla, beating well.

Step 2

Sift together flour, soda, and salt in a small mixing bowl. Gradually add to creamed mixture, stirring well. Stir in pecans. Spread mixture in a greased 9-inch square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cool and cut into 1 1/2-inch squares.

My granddaughter and I made these and after reading the first review I added an extra egg and a 1/4 tsp baking powder to make them a little moister and rise better. They came out very moist and tender. I did only bake them for 20 minutes. We left the nuts out due to braces. We will bake them again and will probably double the batter to make it thicker. I gave this recipe only 4 stars because of the changes we made.

Just took them out of the oven. Reading other reviews, I added an extra egg along with 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder. I also added some chocolate chips while ommiting the nuts. I tried baking it for 20mins but it was still soft inside so added an extra 5mins. They're moist, not like a brick. A little bland though. Next time I will add the nuts. I will make them again.

These were horrible! They burned, did not rise and came out like a brick. I am saddened that I wasted 1/2 a cup of my pecans on this! Do not waste your time, ingredients or ambition on these!

These were very dry, did not rise in the least. Absolutely not in the least like a moist brownie.
