How to Make It

Step 1

Stir together first 10 ingredients in a large bowl just until combined. Place in a 9- x 5-inch loafpan.

Step 2

Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Pour chili sauce over meat loaf, and bake 20 to 25 more minutes or until meat is no longer pink in center.

Step 3

Arrange cheese slices in a crisscross pattern on top of meat loaf. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 4

Note: For testing purposes only, we used Heinz Chili Sauce.

No boring meatloaf tonight!

This was delicious.  Prepared just as the recipe called, but did not have the Chili Sauce here, so I made the copycat recipe for Heinz Chili Sauce.  By the time the meatloaf was ready for the sauce, it was perfect timing for the Chili sauce to finish.  Adding hot chili sauce then the cheese strips made this a real hit, there were no leftovers on this one!  Highly recommend this one is a keeper.

Delicious! My husband always requests this recipe-it is very tender & juicy. Many times I don't use the chili sauce & cheese & just top it at the end with some ketchup. Great with mashed potatoes & Peas-true comfort food!

My family loves this meatloaf. It is my go-to recipe. I don't put the cheese on top but I am sure the cheese would add even more flavor. I serve this with Gouda Mashed Potatoes and peas.
