As delicious as cold, last-night's pizza can be for breakfast, some occasions call for a little something extra. Perfectly cooked eggs, tender heart-shaped dough with a crisp bottom, and traditional hot Italian sausage make the cutest morning pizza. Add whatever extra toppings you, or whomever you're making this for, love. Just make sure not to crack the egg into the bacon heart, because it won't cook.

Ingredient Checklist

Instructions Checklist
  • Place a pizza stone on middle rack of oven, and preheat oven to 500°F. (Do not remove pizza stone while oven preheats.)

  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place 2 bacon slices on prepared baking sheet, and shape into a heart by twisting slices and connecting ends. Repeat with remaining 2 bacon slices. Place on top of pizza stone in preheated oven, and bake until crisp, 12 to 13 minutes. Remove baking sheet from oven, and cool bacon until ready to use.

  • Turn pizza dough out onto a large piece of parchment paper, and roll into a 12-inch heart shape, trimming end point, if needed. Brush dough with oil, and spread with pizza sauce, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle with sausage, and dollop with burrata.

  • Transfer pizza and parchment to hot pizza stone, and bake at 500°F until crust is golden, about 5 minutes. Remove from oven, and place bacon hearts on top. Crack 1 egg into a custard cup. Using egg shell, scoop out yolk and a little white, and gently place on pizza, on the outside of 1 bacon heart. (Discard remaining egg white.) Repeat with remaining egg. Sprinkle entire pizza with salt.

  • Return pizza to oven, and bake until crust is charred, whites are set, and yolk is runny, 3 to 4 more minutes. Remove from oven, and sprinkle with basil. Serve immediately.
