Makes 1 (750-milliliter) bottle

Welcome to the Southerner’s perfect cocktail:  bacon-flavored bourbon.  All you need is a bottle of your favorite bourbon and some warm bacon grease.

How to Make It

Step 1

Remove 1/4 cup bourbon from bottle. Pour warm bacon grease into bottle. Cover and let stand 4 hours, shaking bottle occasionally. Chill 3 to 7 days. Pour bourbon through a wire-mesh strainer lined with a coffee filter into a bowl; discard filter. Clean bottle. Pour strained bourbon into bottle, and store at room temperature up to 6 months.

Note: We tested with Benton's Smoked Country Bacon and Woodford Reserve Bourbon.

Awesome recipe I am in the process of trying it out. I actually have a question. Is the six month period in the recipe how long you must wait before drinking, or how long the drink will be good for?

WOW! I have been to the pinnacle of Flavor Mountain. Wait! Are those angels I hear, singing in the distance? Whoever dreamed this one up deserves global recognition, it is fantastic. What amazed me was how well all the flavors complemented each other. I used Woodford's Reserve also, and homemade apple wood smoked bacon grease. Again, fantastic!
