This was good but not great - cabbage was too salty/peppery, though the touch of sesame was just right. The chicken was yummy but flavors needed to be stronger - more hoisin and ginger. I will take others' suggestions and use a dipping sauce next time.
So delicious and easy to make. Seasoned the chicken for a couple hours then baked it, added a little more onion to lettuce for flavor. Definitely will make it again.
Ok. this dish was Ok. I made the chicken and marinaded it in the hoisin/garlic/ginger sauce for about 3 hours - then I mixed up another batch and basted the chicken with it while I grilled it. Chicken tasted good. Cabbage was Ok, didn't have much taste at all, as cabbage generally doesn't - I think it needs maybe a touch of sugar (maybe some hoisin sauce) and a spice- vinegar or something.. not sure...have to play with it. Don't think I'll be making again.
I can't vouch for the slaw since I served the chicken with CL's oriental salad (which is excellent) instead, but the chicken was really good. I'm going to double the sauce next time and possibly marinate the chicken or serve it as a dipping sauce at the table.
I thought the chicken was a little bland. The flavors didn't really come through. I will stick with the recipe "Asian Barbecue Chicken". But, I loved the Cabbage!!
The chicken had good flavor but the cabbage side was a little bland. Still a good meal all together but the cabbage could use a bit more seasoning.
