Apple Cider Doughnuts

I would not make these again. Time consuming and not worth the effort. When fried as directed, they were still doughy in the middle. I cooked them a little longer and they tasted burnt. There was absolutely no apple taste. Tasted like a plain (very heavy) donut with sugar on it. Couldn't taste any cinnamon, just sugar.

They are as flat as a hockey puck. Dough was very dry. Something has to be off. Not recommended.

Update...they are MUCH better after they cool completely! They're still a bit dry but the flavor comes out and the dryness can be fixed with a cup of hot cider, coffee, or milk!

Realllllyyyyy sticky dough. Probably used another cup of flour when flattening them out and cutting them. These are very good but needs more apple cider taste. Mostly tastes like a plain donuts with cinnamon and sugar. Didn't stop us from gobbling them down!

I agree with previous reviewer "hubbin," didn't taste anything but cinnamon & sugar. The first couple of donuts looked perfectly browned like the picture, but were doughy in the middle, so I left them in longer, which somewhat burnt the outside, but the middle was done. Maybe my oil was not hot enough with the first couple. Don't know, if I'll be making them again; though they did taste pretty good with my morning cup of coffee;)

Followed recipe; not very much of an apple taste; husband asked to just sugar one side of donut. Will definitely try again. Next time will add more apple cider to concentrate flavor. Fun to make but dangerous if young children around with super hot oil!

I found that this recipe was missing liquid. It called only for 2 eggs a yoke and 1/2 cup of boiled down apple cider. Doughnuts were heavy and burned at the bottom of our iron dutch oven at the required heat. Maybe I missed something.

I used to have these when I lived in Northeast N.Y. I've missed them. I can't wait to make theses.

Delish. Pretty easy. My kids loved the donut holes. Nice fall treat!

Easy and Very Tasty!! My Kids love them!!!We will make this recipe again and again. I didn't use Cider I used Simply Apple Juice 100% juice. It was perfect!!
