10/21/10 From The Lord, Our God and Savior - The Word of The Lord Spoken to Timothy During an Online Fellowship, For All Those Who Have Ears to HearExcerpt:“Therefore, thus says The Lord: I have trumpeted the call to awake, yet who has heard My call? Who has given heed and walked according to the will of The Lord?... Wicked and slothful generation! DEAF CHILDREN! You have forsaken Me, for you have filled this world with every kind of evil; behold, you have reached new heights in wickedness! Thus I must blot out the kingdoms of men, I must wipe them away and cast them from My sight, forever! Never again shall they arise, never again shall the nations do evil in My sight!” Excerpt from: TrumpetCallofGodOnline.com
So the first few times I made this recipe I used what I had on hand, it was so good that it became a staple dinner at my house. Substitutes were: instead of diced tomatoes with celery, green pepper and onion I used petite diced tomatoes. To make up for that I sauteed half an onion and a bell pepper while cooking the ground beef. I also only used 1 15 oz can of tomato sauce instead of 16oz that this recipe calls for and added in other seasonings like salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder (no particular measurements). It was great like this.
However, I cooked it exactly as the recipe states the other night and was disappointed. It lacked the usual chili flavor and the tomato flavor overpowered everything else.I appreciate this recipe as it helped me find a great simple routine for chili, but I will keep making it the way I did when I didn't have the exact ingredients because it was much better.
Very easy and fast to put together. Although since I decided to sauté an onion before adding the ground beef, it really took me an hour to put everything together. I also made the Chili Seasoning Mix with what I had on hand, leaving out the onion and garlic powder, adding those fresh ingredients to the chili instead.I was out of kidney beans so I used black beans and garbanzo beans. I was a little worried about the garbanzo flavor standing out, but after the simmer everything blended perfectly. This is a great recipe! I've made more elaborate chili recipes but there is no reason to go back. I think this will feed the two of us for a few nights in a row.I served over brown rice with cheddar cheese, greek yogurt, green onions and cornbread (Jiffy) on the side. Yum!
Love this recipe. I never liked chili before this recipe. My kids and husband Love it! And when friends hear I'm making it they help but come join us. Wouldn't try another recipe ever! I've alsoused ground turkey, no-one knows the difference. As well as just one pound of meat on those tight months.
Quick, easy delicious. Made it for a potluck and had no leftovers!
My husband and I found this recipe yummy! I found it very easy to prepare...very few ingredients and just a couple of steps! Will make again
Quick, easy, and good tasting. I used rotel instead of the diced tomatoes.
I'll admit that I am a chili snob. I made the chili seasoning mix - the companion recipe. It calls for two tablespoons of cumin and two tablespoons of sugar. The cumin over-powered the final product. Seemed to be all I tasted. I would suggest cutting that amount in half as well as the sugar. It was easy and quick.
Great recipe. Easy to make and very tasty. My family raved about it and asked that I keep making it. I followed the directions and after reading the other reviews, I also topped it with cheddar cheese and green onions. I made some rolls in the oven while this was cooking. Perfect week night meal.
This is already my family's favorite chili recipe. I have made it several times since I first tried it in December. I use 2 cans of rotel for the diced tomatoes - 1 mild & 1 mexican rotel. It gets a little too spicy when using the original rotel. I also use 2 cans of light red kidney beans instead. It tastes good with some beef sausage in it too. Best of all - it is so fast to make.
This was very quick and easy. I used what I had in my pantry. Instead of the tomatoes I used 2 cans Rotel and I didn't have black beans so I used kidney instead. Top with cheese and chopped onions for those who want. I will make this again.
As I was preparing the recipe I couldn't seem to wait the 15 minutes for it to simmer. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it! The wait was more than worth it! I made extra to freeze and look forward to reheating this for the family on those busy nights. I did saute onions and green bell peppers before adding the meat. I also made my own chili seasoning. Good enough to serve alone!
WE LOVE THIS CHILI! I make it with ground turkey for a lighter meal, and it is fabulous! So easy to make, I can't say enough good things! A must try recipe!
