So recently I've become aware of an unfortunately named cookie, the Rock Cookie. When I think of cookies, I think of chewy cookies, crispy cookies, chocolate cookies, even burnt cookies, but when I think of Rock Cookies, I do not think about eating them.

Turns out, as you might've guessed, Rock Cookies are completely gravel free. Instead, pecans turn out to be the culprit here, serving as the "rocks" in the otherwise delicious, delicately spiced cookie.


The history of the Rock Cookie recipe is varied and fuzzy, if also delicious. Our version calls for strong coffee, which is pretty much a guaranteed mid-afternoon pick-me-up.
