Did someone forget to look at a calendar?

Though some swear it’s fall, the weather definitely isn’t cool enough to take out that window-mounted air conditioner just yet. Of course, that hasn’t stopped any food brand who sells anything vaguely pumpkin-flavored has already trotted out their autumnal offerings, immune to the cries of protest from those who don’t want summer to end.

Even more remarkably, some have seemingly blown past autumn entirely and gone straight into their holiday-themed flavors even before the leaves have started to change color. For example, recent Instagram evidence shared by @junkFoodintheTrunk3 suggests there’s already both peppermint and eggnog flavored ice cream at Walmart.

Sure, you can look at a pint of peppermint ice cream and try to pretend it’s a year-round thing. After all, everyone can use some “cool mint ice cream” no matter what time of year it is, right? The bigger issue here is the eggnog ice cream. Make no mistake about it, that’s the kind of thing that any remotely normal person would only want during the month of December. Eggnog itself is already a fairly divisive drink around the holidays, so its presence makes it clear that Walmart is zooming past pumpkin and right into Christmas with these Great Value-branded ice creams.

With that being said, the peppermint ice cream does look pretty good, especially if, true to the label, it’s made with peppermint candies. The little flecks of red and green add a festive touch to truly remind you that you’re eating holiday-themed ice cream in September.

So if you’re the kind of person whose Christmas countdown starts when the remaining days still number in the triple digits, then make your way to Walmart to grab a quart of Great Value’s holiday ice cream flavors for potentially under $2. Just don’t be surprised if it’s freezer burned to hell by the time Thanksgiving is over.
